#36 Run (at least) a 5K
Week 4 Couch to 5K
help...me...i...can't...catch...my...breath!!!!
Week 4 is:
Brisk five-minute warmup walk, then:
Jog 1/4 mile (or 3 minutes)
Walk 1/8 mile (or 90 seconds)
Jog 1/2 mile (or 5 minutes)
Walk 1/4 mile (or 2-1/2 minutes)
Jog 1/4 mile (or 3 minutes)
Walk 1/8 mile (or 90 seconds)
Jog 1/2 mile (or 5 minutes)
Alright I am going be honest and admit that I couldn't complete the last damn 5 minutes. I have two more times to try this week, so there is hope. What is discouraging is the girl who was running in front of me ran 4 miles at 7.0!! I wasn't even sure how her legs could go so fast. I can only run at 4.7 right now and I seriously feel like I am cruisin'! Most people are still walking at that level. What's up with that?

#36. Run (at least) a 5K
Just started week 3 of the couch to 5k training...sort of! The corner of the coffee table accidentally hit my knee and put me out of comission on my first day of training. This weeks goal was suppose to be: Brisk five-minute warm up walk, then do two repetitions of the following: Jog 200 yards (or 90 seconds) - Walk 200 yards (or 90 seconds) -Jog 400 yards (or 3 minutes) - Walk 400 yards (or three minutes).
I did give it the old college try, but the pounding on my knee wouldn't allow me to continue. So I opted for the steam room & sauna. Oh well, maybe tomorrow!

#36. Run (at least) a 5K
I'm already on week 2 of the "Couch to 5K" training! Phew...week one went by in a jiffy, I guess now the real work begins. This week the goal is: a brisk five-minute warm-up walk. Then alternate 90 seconds of jogging and two minutes of walking for a total of 20 minutes (3x/wk). Surprisingly, after just one week, I already feel my endurance building up. Don't get me wrong, it's still painful to the lungs, but not as piercing as last week! The search is on for 5K runs in the area. If all goes well, I should be ready by the end of July!
